Outdoor Painting (Day-time course)
Be introduced to painting in the great outdoors in the beautiful FAC grounds. Discover techniques to capture the fleeting effects of time and light in this direct paint-to-canvas method. Learn about how to deal with the practical and material issues of painting outside (En Plein Air painting), how to choose a subject and location each week to create a series of paintings. Explore colour theory, observation techniques and composition. Students can work in acrylic or oil paints.

Realism (Night-time course)
Be introduced to different aspects of achieving realism in painting. Join one of the original Fremantle Realists, Ken Wadrop, and learn about drawing and painting from life as well as using photographs as a starting point and a tool for observation. Working in differing approaches such as the Direct Painting Manner (Alla Prima) or the more considered approach of multi-layered painting whilst exploring colour theory, design and composition. Students can work in acrylic or oil paints.
